Phil Mickelson’s score in the final round of the Masters a week ago. That was good enough to win him his first major and also good news for Ford Motor Co., which just six weeks ago introduced what then sounded like a lame promotion called “Phil’s on the Phone,” in which a sweepstakes winner will complete a foursome with Mickelson, hockey great Wayne Gretzky and auto racer Dale Jarrett. Mickelson and the fan will partner against Gretzky and Jarrett in an alternate-shot match on the famous Blue Monster course at the Doral Resort and Spa in Miami next March. Now when Phil calls, the winner (to be chosen Oct. 7) is likely to be somewhat more excited. Entrants are also eligible to win one of three new vehicles from Ford—the Five Hundred, the Freestyle, the Mustang—or a Ford Expedition SUV.
