GCI Group Promotes Golden, Babbit

ATLANTA GCI Group has elevated Ellen Golden to executive vice president and Joel Babbit to chief creative officer, the agency said.

Golden will serve as evp and director of GCI’s North American consumer marketing practice in New York. Babbit, charged with heading up creative activities for GCI’s 12 North American offices, will operate from Atlanta. Both positions are new.

“Both Ellen and Joel have consistently demonstrated the level of dedication, expertise and energy that we know is going to move our business forward,” said Bob Feldman, GCI president and CEO.

Golden joined the public relations firm in 1999 to start a consumer health business within the healthcare practice. She has worked on SlimFast, Pfizer, Ben & Jerry’s, British Airways, Lipton and Sony-Ericsson, among other accounts.

Babbit joined GCI in 2002 when parent Grey acquired 360 Thinc in Atlanta, which he co-founded in 1995. Babbit took over as president and chief creative officer of Grey Atlanta and has been dividing his time between the ad agency and the PR firm.
