BOSTON — Staples on Thursday named four finalists in the review for the creative portion of its $70 million account.

The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va.; Wieden + Kennedy, New York; and Minneapolis shops Carmichael Lynch and Martin/Williams advanced, said a representative of the Framingham, Mass.-based office supply store.

The other semifinalists were Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, Boston;and New York agencies Barle Bogle Hegarty, Bozell, Fresh Grey and McCann-Erickson.

Incumbent Cliff Freeman and Partners, New York, declined an invitation to defend.
