CHICAGO Gary Epstein, who in April resigned as CEO of what was then Euro RSCG Tatham Partners, has joined the American Medical Association as chief marketing officer, a new position, according to the organization.

Epstein’s task will be to recruit and retain members at the Chicago-based AMA, said Michael D. Maves, executive vice president and CEO of the organization, in a statement.

Epstein, 43, took over as CEO of Havas’ Euro RSCG Tatham in 1999. He subsequently assumed the same post at Havas’ Euro RSCG Tatham Partners, which grouped the Chicago ad agency with units including Euro RSCG Tyee direct response TV in Portland, Ore.,
