Former Bravo CEO Joins Zyman

NEW YORK Gary Bassell, former chairman and CEO of the Bravo Group, has joined the Zyman Group, an Atlanta-based management consulting firm.

He has been named managing principal for the Marketing to Hispanic (M2H) Practice Group and co-lead for all multicultural business strategy practices, which also include the African-American and Asian markets, confirmed a representative at Zyman.

He joins Zyman’s managing principal Alfredo Ortiz, who had been president of Grupo Mas, an Atlanta company specializing in the U.S. Hispanic market. Zyman acquired the business strategy development firm in fall 2006. Grupo Mas has been integrated into Zyman’s headquarters.

Bassell left WPP’s Bravo in July 2006 “to pursue other interests,” according to a statement released by the agency at that time. He had joined the Hispanic shop in November 2004.

Zyman’s M2H group has had staff turnover in the past year.

Marco Vega, former management consultant at Zyman, left the firm after a brief stint in early 2006 at the M2H group. He has been planning director and partner for ConceptCafe in Miami since April 2006.

Manny Gonzalez also worked for Zyman in Miami last year, serving as managing consultant for M2H. Previous to that, he had been brand director for Diageo North America.
