BOSTON Trion Communications partner Josh Fenton, a prime architect of the small independent shop’s growth spurt, has left the agency to open his own marketing company, the Fenton Group.

“It was mutual and just part of that natural evolution of an agency,” Fenton said about his split with former Trion partners Frank McMahon and David Preston.

“It was an amicable separation,” said Preston of the split. He and McMahon will now continue as equal partners in Trion, which will retain its name.
