FCB Promotes Sells to President

LOS ANGELES Kass Sells has been promoted to president of Foote Cone & Belding.

Sells, 41, joined the Interpublic Group shop in Seattle as general manager in August 2002. Ian Beavis, who oversaw FCB’s San Francisco and Seattle offices until he resigned in March 2003, last held the title of president.

Sells said the promotion is a case where “the job title now matches the job function” and is “representative of the quality of work our people are doing here.” The 45-person shop will not appoint a new general manager, Sells said.

“We want to be the strongest agency in Seattle, with a great local presence and big back-end resources for regional and national clients based in the Northwest,” said Sells. The Seattle outpost works with FCB New York on Hewlett-Packard, and also counts clients like AAA Washington, Group Health Cooperative, Speakeasy and the Washington Forest Protection Association.

Sells continues to report to Gene Bartley, chief operating office of FCB North America. “Kass has solidified our business and commitment to the Northwest, improved our creative product, added new clients, built a strong senior staff, and is leading a dynamic group of people who are producing results for our clients,” said Bartley, in a statement.

Prior to FCB, Sells held the positions of president and senior vice president of marketing at Bogart Golf. He also was senior vice president and director of new business at Omnicom Group’s DDB in Seattle.
