Fathom Names Head of Marketing

NEW YORK Fathom Online, a search engine marketing company that specializes in pay-for-performance models, has hired Rob Middleton as executive vice president of marketing.

In the newly created post, Middleton, 33, will market the 8-month-old company’s services to existing and prospective agency clients. Some of Fathom’s clients include Organic, I-Traffic and SF Interactive, among others. He will report to Chris Churchill, president and founder of Fathom Online.

Most recently, Middleton was account director at Grey Direct in San Francisco, where he worked on Cisco, Oracle and Sun Microsystems. Before that, he spent four years as principal, national media director at SF Interactive, where he built the San Francisco i-shop’s media department from the ground up.

He has also worked at BBDO/West and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, both San Francisco. While at Goodby, he helped Hewlett-Packard develop its global search engine and keyword strategy.
