Fathead Taps Wieden

NEW YORK Fathead has hired independent Wieden + Kennedy here for marketing chores, the agency said.

The assignment includes TV, print and digital advertising, as well as out-of-home initiatives. The client spent about $12 million on domestic ads last year, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

The agency’s first work for Fathead will be a campaign for the upcoming NFL season.

“The Fathead brand embodies big, fun, inspirational and entertaining moments of greatness captured in time,” said Fernando De Los Reyes, client CMO, in a statement. “We wanted an agency capable of understanding our vision for the brand, core values and heritage. Wieden is the type of agency that shares our values and vision.”

Wieden added the business following a review of undisclosed agencies.

“Owning a Fathead reflects the emotional and inspirational bond consumers have with something beyond and yet reflective of themselves. Purchasers of Fathead products refer to them as fun, cool and real,” said shop managing director Buz Sawyer.

Fathead has worked in the past with Maiden Lane in San Francisco.

The client is based in Livonia, Mich., and produces colorful vinyl wall graphics of popular sports and entertainment stars.

Wieden’s New York office employs 125 staffers and works for ABC, ESPN, Nike and Sharp, among others.
