The Fastest Bookseller in New York

NEW YORK Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners West has fitted Shakespeare for sneakers in a new campaign for the Barnes & Noble.com division’s same-day delivery service.

Tagged “Your favorite authors. Fast,” the premise of the print, radio and outdoor campaign is that when New Yorkers want something, they want it as soon as possible. The first ad features an illustration by New Yorker cartoonist Lee Lorenz of Shakespeare wearing running gear. Additional executions will spotlight other famous authors, such as Charles Dickens, by various cartoonists from the same magazine.

“The campaign aims to let people know they can have their favorite authors in a hurry,” said Noel Cottrell, executive creative director and managing partner at KPB West in San Francisco. “The ads are classic in feel, yet don’t take themselves too seriously.”

The campaign, which broke in The New York Times and New York Post last month, will appear on commuter rail cars, buses and bus shelters as well as in subway cars and in cinema slides this month.

Via its Web site (www.bn.com), the New York-based client began same-day delivery of books, CDs and DVDs within Manhattan three years ago. Spending on the project was undisclosed.
