BOSTON-She was not naming names last week, but Anne Finucane already has a pretty good idea of who the key players of her team will be once Fleet Financial Group’s takeover of BankBoston is complete.
Sources said look no further than those that have helped put her in the driver’s seat on all marketing issues relative to the merged entity.
Fleet senior executives expected to play key roles going forward include: Betsy Richardson, corporate marketing; Arthur Eisenbach, research; Brian Wolf, direct marketing; Bob Hand, sponsorships; Randy Grossman, data warehouse; Dana Rashti, advertising and marketing services; and Diane Malcolmson, internal communications.
One BankBoston staffer that has been assured a role in the new marketing department is Linda Zider, who was recruited to the company from BankAmerica in San Francisco. Zider will serve as the head of institutional sales and marketing for the new entity’s capital markets, corporate and investment banking.
Finucane insisted, however, that the structure of the new marketing department is still very much under consideration. “We have been in discussions about a lot of this, but the process now is to go through a fairly systematic approach to deciding” who does what, said Finucane.
Decisions on structure and staffing are expected to happen over the summer, while Boston-based Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos works on researching branding issues relative to the new entity’s identity and positioning in the marketplace.
By fall, and as soon as the deal closes, it will be all systems go. ƒ
