Lichtenheld becomes the agency’s second creative director, joining John Carstens, who with Ross had overseen Hyatt creative. Group creative director Scott Wild and several associate creative directors also have direct client relationships for the agency.

Lichtenheld previously worked at Publicis Groupe’s Fallon for more than 16 years on brands such as Porsche, BMW and United Airlines. He left the Minneapolis agency in 2001 to write children’s books. Newsweek named his first effort, Everything I Know About Pirates, one of the best children’s books of 2000.

Ross said Lichtenheld’s hire is another step toward a more senior creative team that has experience pitching and handling major national accounts. “We’re excited to have him,” Ross said.
