Euro RSCG Tatham Lays Off Personnel

CHICAGO Havas’ Euro RSCG Tatham Partners here has laid off between 10 and 15 workers from its staff of 100, a representative confirmed.

The cuts were across the board and resulted from a “slowdown in account work” during 2003, the representative said.

Tatham earlier this month lost its $45 million Alberto-Culver business, which the client shifted to two other shops without a review.

The Melrose Park, Ill.-based company shifted $15-20 million in work, including its V05 shampoo and its Mrs. Dash, Static Guard and Molly McButter brands to Omnicom’s Element 79 Partners here, a client representative said. The $25 million Tressame shampoo was moved to Interpublic Group’s Campbell Mithun in Minneapolis, an Alberto-Culver roster shop that also handles the client’s St. Ives line of hair care products, the rep said.

Element 79’s win followed some project work it did for the company, the rep said.

Tatham also is in trouble on its $100 million Red Lobster account. The client is talking to other agencies but has yet to start a formal review, according to sources.

The shop is a finalist in two reviews: Florida’s $30 million sport utility vehicle safety program and Edward Jones’ estimated $25-30 million account.
