E*Trade Job To BBDO, Atmosphere

Online brokerage E*Trade Financial, which split last month with Martin/Williams, has given a fourth-quarter job to Omnicom siblings of M/W: ad agency BBDO, New York, and BBDO’s online marketing unit, Atmosphere. The New York-based client spends an estimated $90 million annually and is still talking to BBDO and other undisclosed agencies about long-term branding ideas.



Arnold Says, Come to California

los angeles The California Commission on Jobs and Economic Growth last week launched its “Arnold Says” campaign from Omnicom’s TBWA\ Chiat\Day in Playa del Rey, Calif. TBWA chairman and worldwide cd Lee Clow is one of 42 business leaders involved with the nonprofit, formed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to attract employers and investors. A billboard featuring the governor and the line, “Arnold says: California wants your business (actually, he says Kah-li-fornia),” is up in Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Chicago, Seattle, Boston, Dallas and Orlando, Fla.



Shumaker to Head New Biz at Grey

New York Grey has hired Chris Shumaker to head up new-business efforts, the agency confirmed. He joins the New York-based shop later this month. Shumaker, who was director of development at IPG’s The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., will join as evp, director of development of Grey’s North American operations, a new position. He reports to North America CEO Steve Blamer.
