eskandarian on Deck

Ed Eskandarian, CEO and chairman of the Arnold worldwide network, has joined a group attempting to acquire the Boston Red Sox.

according to sources.

That group is led by TV producer and former San Diego Padres owner Tom Werner and Maine entrepreneur Les Otten. Werner and Otten have declined to name their partners; Eskandarian would not comment on the matter.

The Werner/Otten group is among a half-dozen bidders that have made offers in excess of $300 million to acquire a controlling stake in the baseball team. The Werner/Otten bid, which sources say also includes participation from investment company Bain Capital, features a plan to rebuild historic Fenway Park on its current site in Boston.

Eskandarian’s former boss Dan Snyder is majority owner of the Washington Redskins. Eskandarian sold Arnold to Snyder Communications in 1998; that company was subsequently acquired by Havas Advertising last year.
