Edelman Expands Texas Range

Acquires GTT Communications of Austin
DALLAS–Edelman Public Relations Worldwide last week acquired GTT Communications, an Austin, Texas, public relations company specializing in high-tech clients.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. GTT, founded in 1994, employs 16 people and has service offices in Dallas, Boca Raton, Fla., and Portland, Maine.
GTT will operate as a division of Edelman under the Edelman/GTT banner, according to GTT co-founder Miller Bonner. There are no client conflicts. Edelman is co-headquartered in Chicago and New York.
Bonner takes the title of national technology director for Edelman and will head up the firm’s technology practice in Texas. Bonner reports to John Holland, executive vice president and managing director of Edelman’s Texas operations in Dallas, and Paul Bergevin, executive vice president and managing director of the firm’s global technology practice.
“Technology companies are among the most sophisticated users of public relations and this agreement boosts our depth of staff and range of service offerings to provide our technology clients with results they require,” Holland said in a statement.
Bonner said GTT has in excess of $2 million in fee income from clients including Sematech, IBM, Medusa Labs and the American Electronics Association. GTT’s Dallas staffers have already moved into Edelman’s offices, Bonner said.
Edelman follows other firms that have established outposts in Austin of late. BSMG Worldwide/Southwest, Irving, Texas, opened an office there last year. –Steve Krajewsk
