Dream Cycles

Bicycle envy is at the heart of this year’s TV effort for Huffy Bicycles from Euro RSCG Tatham, Chicago.
In a 30-second spot, from which a 15-second version was also cut, a jogger tromping through a park is stopped in his tracks by the sight of a Huffy Ironman model bicycle leaning against
a tree. Appearing dumbfounded by the sight, he walks over and touches the two-wheeler, leading him into a fast-moving fantasy sequence in which he is competing in the Ironman triathlon in Hawaii. The man is jolted back to reality when the bike’s owner, a shapely blonde in tight biking shorts, strolls up to claim her ride.
“Huffy,” says a voiceover of the brand’s tagline, “brings out the Ironman in everyone.”
The spot was directed by Don Hannah, actress Daryl’s brother, who works with Harmony Pictures in Los Angeles.
It’s the second year Huffy has done a tie-in with the Ironman for its springtime cable TV campaign, which breaks this week.
