NEW YORK Howard Sherman, former president and chief operating officer of Interpublic Group’s Howard Merrell & Partners, has joined Omnicom Group’s Doremus in the role of managing director, a new post, the agency confirmed today.

Sherman’s arrival comes nearly a month after chief strategic officer and vice chairman Jeff DeJoseph abruptly left.

Sherman, 48, will manage day-to-day operations of Doremus’ $250 million New York office. He starts today and reports to chief executive Carl Anderson. “We’re really excited because of his background and his pedigree,” Anderson said.
