Digitas Hires Emerging Channels Director

NEW YORK Digitas has enlisted Greg Verdino to help the shop identify ways it can leverage digital channels such as broadband video, podcasts and social networking for its clients.

Verdino, 37, has joined the Boston-based independent agency as vice president and director of emerging channels, a new position. Based in New York, he reports to Carl Fremont, the company’s global director of media.

Verdino has spent the past year at ROO, a broadband video provider, where he was a senior vice president.

Prior to ROO, he worked at Arbitron NewMedia, Akami Technologies and Globix. His agency experience includes stints at Barry Blau & Partners, Saatchi & Saatchi and Geer DuBois Advertising.

The appointment comes at a tough time for Digitas, which saw its stock drop sharply last week after disclosing the loss of three client accounts and expectations of lower revenue from key clients General Motors and Delta Air Lines. CEO David Kenny said the agency needed to be more proactive in bringing new opportunities to clients.
