Deutsch’s Rubin to Join JWT

NEW YORK Fred Rubin, director of both iDeutsch and directDeutsch in New York, is heading to JWT to assume the new position of managing director of integrated business solutions, the WPP Group shop confirmed.

Rubin, who starts next month, will work with leaders of the New York office to develop business strategies that span multiple media disciplines. He’ll report to JWT New York co-president Rosemarie Ryan.

“JWT is committed to keeping digital thinking at the center of our business,” said Ryan. “It’s not a department or a medium, it’s a way of thinking, and Fred Rubin is one of the preeminent leaders in the field with the talent and experience to help us reach our goals.”

Rubin, 53, spent seven years at Interpublic Group’s Deutsch in New York. In 2002, he was promoted from vice president and director of iDeutsch to the dual role of director of that unit and directDeutsch. He was also named a partner at that time.

Rubin, who also has worked at TBWA\Chiat\Day in New York, said he was drawn to JWT because of the shop’s willingness to reinvent itself. “I know that working with this team we can continually innovate in the way we engage and inspire consumers,” Rubin said.

“We thank Fred for his dedication and contributions to the agency and our clients businesses,” said Deutsch New York president Val DiFebo. “A seasoned veteran of the industry, Fred will have a significant impact at JWT. We have no plans to replace him.”
