Deutsch Exits Toys R Us Creative Review

NEW YORK Interpublic Group’s Deutsch has withdrawn from the review for creative chores on Toys R Us’ $120 million ad account, sources said.

The Wayne, N.J., client put the business in play last month and invited the incumbent, Publicis Groupe’s Leo Burnett in Chicago, to defend.

Deutsch in New York referred calls to client officials, who could not immediately be reached.

Besides Leo Burnett, three agencies remain in the review: Omnicom Group’s DDB in Chicago; and WPP Group’s Young & Rubicam and Interpublic Group’s Foote Cone & Belding, both in New York. Creative and strategic presentations are set for early May.

Media duties, currently handled by Publicis Groupe’s Starcom in Chicago, are not in play.
