L.A. Lands SunAmerica, N.Y. Set for Brink’s
LOS ANGELES–Deutsch was celebrating on both coasts last week with one account win secured and another expected this week.
SunAmerica named Deutsch/LA the winner of its estimated $10-12 million account, after a four-month review of shops from around the country, sources said.
A representative of the Los Angeles-based financial services company declined to confirm Deutsch as the winner, but said a decision would be announced this week.
Agency executives declined to comment and referred calls to the client. Select Resources International, the Los Angeles consultancy which handled the review, referred calls to the client.
Deutsch and fellow finalist Ammirati Puris Lintas, New York, made presentations two weeks ago. Incumbent Asher & Partners, Los Angeles, was eliminated in the final round of the review.
SunAmerica was recently acquired by American International Group, a U.S.-based international insurance company and underwriter of commercial and industrial insurance. The company wants to reach investors in their twenties, sources said.
SunAmerica’s last campaign ran nearly two years ago and consisted of two 30-second TV spots that encouraged viewers not to leave the future to chance. The ads were tagged, “When it comes to retirement, you can depend on luck, or you can depend on us.”
Separately, Deutsch’s New York office was in final contract negotiations last week with Brink’s Home Security for its $15 million account. The other finalist was Boston-based Ingalls. Incumbent Boston Group was eliminated in an earlier round.
Deutsch is expected to handle traditional advertising and direct duties.
