Bob Scarpelli has handed off his worldwide chief creative officer role to Amir Kassaei, associate partner and CCO of DDB Germany, the agency said today.

The New York–based Scarpelli, 58, retains his other role as worldwide chairman. The move comes nearly a year after Scarpelli contracted a staph infection that limits his ability to travel.

Kassaei, 42, has been at DDB for around a decade. Key clients of DDB Germany include Volkswagen and Reebok. DDB, a unit of Omnicom Group, handles VW across many markets outside the U.S.
