Attracts Martin Agency’s Fandetti to New York as Executive CD
NEW YORK–DDB Worldwide has hired three creative executives and promoted three staffers in an effort by co-creative officers David Nathanson and Steven Landsberg to bolster work on Compaq and several new accounts.
Brian Fandetti, 52, formerly of The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., and Tan Shen Guan, 37, formerly a regional executive creative director at J. Walter Thompson in Hong Kong, have joined DDB in New York as executive creative directors.
Xavier Rodon, 30, formerly a global creative director at Advico, a division of Young & Rubicam in Zurich, Switzerland, was hired as a creative director, one of three at the agency.
“If we want to be the best agency in the world, we have to go out and find the best people in the world,” Landsberg said. “Shen, Brian and Xavier all have a very good visual sense of communication to their work. That’s increasingly necessary in a global-visual world.”
At Martin, Fandetti worked on the Yellow Pages campaign featuring comedian Jon Lovitz. He will partner with 16-year DDB vet Ken Shuldman, who was promoted to executive creative director from group creative director, on Amtrak, Bayer and Cigna as well as new client Starwood’s Sheraton Hotels and Resorts.
“Brian is a talented art director and contributed here on Yellow Pages Publishers Association, Alltel and Wrangler,” said Dean Jarrett, vice president of marketing communications at Martin. “He had a wonderful opportunity come along and we wish him all the best.”
Shen will partner with Giff Crosby, who was promoted to executive creative director from group creative director, on Compaq, Lockheed Martin, The Bank of New York and new business.
Sephora, Henkel, Bentley Motor Cars and Mobile One are among the agency’s newest clients.
Additionally, copywriter Stewart Krull, 34, was promoted to associate creative director.
