DDB Dallas Adds Cooper as Executive CD

NEW YORK Craig Cooper has joined DDB in Dallas as managing partner, executive creative director.

Cooper, 41, replaces Steve Sweitzer, who left earlier this year. He reports to managing director Janet Bustin.

Cooper was previously executive vice president, creative director of Flavour in Toronto, where he worked on accounts including Bacardi white rum and the local transit commission. When parent company Wolf closed that shop in January, Cooper, who holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and Canada, began to look south.

Prior to Flavour, Cooper was a senior vice president, creative director at BBDO in Toronto, working on accounts such as Campbell Soup Co. He also was at MacLaren Lintas and J. Walter Thompson, both in Toronto, and served as an associate creative director at DDB in Toronto from 1990-93, working on Volkswagen, Audi, Hershey’s and Panasonic, among other accounts.

That past experience at DDB led him to consider the Dallas position. Meeting the staff there cinched the deal.

“We got together and kind of clicked,” Cooper said.

Cooper, who oversees all accounts, is looking to supplement his eight-person creative staff with four new hires.

He is currently creating advertising for McIlhenny ‘s Tabasco brand and Bennigan’s, among other accounts.
