Omnicom’s DDB Chicago today confirmed that Ewan Paterson has been named chief creative officer, starting June 21, reporting to office CEO, president Rick Carpenter.

Paterson (pictured) had been with London’s CHI & Partners as ecd, managing partner, and he’s also worked for DDB in the U.K. and Bartle Bogle Hegarty, among others.

A copywriter by trade, he succeeds Paul Tilley, who committed suicide in February 2008.

“[Paterson] is an exceptional creative talent and a proven leader. Throughout his career he has continually demonstrated the ability to elevate the quality of the creative work to a world-class level,” said Carpenter, in a statement.
