Dawson to Lead Adweek West

McCarthy Moves to Reporter-at-Large Post
LOS ANGELES–Angela Dawson has been named editor of Adweek’s Western edition effective immediately, announced Adweek editor Alison Fahey.
Dawson, who previously served as managing editor of the Los Angeles-based edition, succeeds Michael McCarthy in the post. McCarthy has been named a national reporter-at-large and will be based in New York.
“Angela has proven adept at creating the Western edition and representing the magazine in the market,” said Fahey. “We are thrilled to be able to recognize and reward such dedication and professionalism.”
Dawson joined Adweek in 1995 as a reporter and was named managing editor in 1997. Before joining Adweek, she served as deputy editor and senior reporter for the Loudoun Times-Mirror in Leesburg, Va.
“The Western region is becoming more important for advertising news of national interest,” said Dawson. “I look forward to spearheading coverage of the region with our capable team of reporters.”
McCarthy joined Adweek in 1991 as a reporter. He was named West Coast bureau chief of Brandweek in 1993 and editor of Adweek’s Western edition in 1994. After a stint as editor of Adweek’s Eastern edition in 1997, he returned to the Western edition.
“The experience and knowledge McCarthy has gained over the last seven years as a top-notch reporter and editor makes him a perfect choice for this new, national post,” said Fahey.
