David Lynch’s Coffee Brand Is Back With Another Zany Spot

Ponders the question, 'Can robots have coffee?'

Would an artificially intelligent robot drink premium coffee? That's the central question in a new spot for David Lynch Signature Cup coffee.

The acclaimed, eccentric director has had his own coffee line for a few years now, and while it may seem like an easy way for Lynch to dream up insane, fun ads, he didn't make the latest spot. Still, the new 60-second video, created by Andrew Parkhurst, is about as odd as you'd expect for a David Lynch vehicle.

"[David Lynch] has had this coffee line for a number of years, and we took it on in the fall of 2010," said Holly McGee, owner of Java Distribution, who explained that the company sells Lynch's signature coffee year-round. McGee added that Lynch's four-minute Barbie ad from 2011 was a "classic."

McGee referred Adweek to Lynch for more information; he did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
