Da Vinci Gourmet Picks Cole & Weber

LOS ANGELES Cole & Weber/Red Cell has been chosen as the creative agency for Da Vinci Gourmet, maker of flavored syrups, tea concentrates and sauces, the shop said.

The WPP Group shop in Seattle was selected following a review of undisclosed local agencies. Da Vinci previously worked with Hydrogen Advertising in Seattle. The Seattle-based client handles media buying in-house.

Billings are estimated at just under $3 million.

Cole & Weber will handle trade and consumer campaigns, as well as trade show support. The shop’s first work will be the creation of a booth for the Specialty Coffee Association of America expo on April 23-25 in Atlanta. A trade campaign will break in June, followed by consumer advertising in July.

“Our brands have grown considerably over the past several years and we recognized the need to take our communications to the next level,” said Tracy Ging, director of marketing for Da Vinci, in a statement. “We selected Cole & Weber/Red Cell because of their strategic approach, unmatched creativity and breadth of services.”

Founded in 1989 and acquired by Irish food company Kerry Group last year, Da Vinci makes flavorings that can be used in coffee, sorbets, shakes, Italian sodas and marinades. According to Cole & Weber, Da Vinci’s top sellers are vanilla, toasted hazelnut, raspberry and almond, but it also offers flavors like bubblegum, peanut butter, pumpkin pie and cookie dough. Its products are primarily sold in specialty foods stores.
