Creatives Join MMB

McCarthy Mambro Ber-tino has brought aboard a senior creative team and hired a production manager to add depth to its creative department.

Copywriter David Register and art director Derek Kirkman have joined the Boston startup as associate creative director and senior art director, respectively. The pair have begun working on the Boston Beer and Jiffy Lube accounts. The 25-person shop was formed in the spring around Boston Beer and quickly added Jiffy Lube in its first competitive review. Boston Beer has, however, been soliciting ideas from other agencies for its flagship Samuel Adams Boston Lager. MMB has also submitted creative concepts for the brand.

Also joining the agency is Marita Stapleton, who as production manager will oversee the agency’s creative workflow. She most recently served at Holland Mark, Boston.

Register spent several years at Pagano Schenck & Kay, where he developed a campaign for the Wallpaper Council tagged “Nothing Gets Your Attention Like Wallpaper.” He also worked on the United Way of Massachusetts, and Checkered Past Records. Boston’s PSK earlier this year was absorbed into the New York operations of parent Panoramic Communications. Prior to Pagano, Register worked at McCann-Erickson, Seattle for three years, where he met Kirkman. Together they crafted ads for clients such as Powerade and the Washington State Lottery.

Kirkman most recently served at San Francisco-based Odiorne Narroway & Partners as a freelance art director. Kirkman was drawn to the East Coast by the “great reputations” at MMB, he said.
