LOS ANGELES–Cox Communications’ San Diego region has begun a review for its estimated $1 million ad account.





The company has sent requests for proposals to approximately 12 San Diego-area agencies, sources said.





Among the shops contacted are O’Shaughnessy-Parr in San Diego; Kenneth C. Smith Advertising in La Jolla, Calif.; and Lambesis in Del Mar, Calif. Lambesis declined to participate in the review.





Questionnaires were due to the client the week of June 9. The shops are currently waiting to hear back as to the next step, said an agency source.





Cox Communications confirmed the review but declined to comment any further.





The client is looking for a marketing partner to help with overall branding and to steer its business in the right direction, said an agency source.





Previous advertising had been partially produced in-house, with projects farmed out to various agencies, sources said.
