Costa Del Mar Selects McGarrah/Jessee

LOS ANGELES Independent McGarrah/Jessee has won creative and media duties on Costa Del Mar sunglasses, the agency said.

The business moves to the Austin, Texas-based shop following a review. The incumbent was Omnicom Group’s Zimmerman Agency in Tallahassee, Fla.

“We talked with top creative agencies, but after seeing the work and meeting the people at McGarrah/Jessee, it was clear they are the people who can help us grow from our core while staying true to our heritage,” said client vp, marketing Al Perkinson. “There is an authenticity to the work that is absolutely vital to a brand like ours.”

The company markets anti-glare sunglasses favored by mountain climbers and serious fiishing enthusiasts.

The first work from McGarrah/Jessee is expected to include print, online, experiential marketing and design elements. That effort is slated is to break in the spring. The agency will also assist the Daytona Beach, Fla., company with the production of a water-sports documentary that will feature Costa Del Mar sunglasses.

Costa Del Mar has spent less than $1 million in measured media in each of the last two years, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

McGarrah/Jessee, which employs more than 50 staffers and claims over $70 million in billings, also works for Frost Bank, Hyatt Hotels, Shiner Beer and What-a-Burger restaurants, among others.
