Cossette Post Bids Farewell to Amica Account

BOSTON Incumbent Cossette Post came up short in the review for the ad account of Amica Insurance. Cronin & Co. in Glastonbury, Conn., has won the business, the client confirmed.

Along with Cronin and New York-based Cossette Post, the Lincoln, R.I.-based client heard final presentations from Partners + Simons in Boston and Re:Think Group of Stamford, Conn. [Adweek Online, Dec. 6].

The three New England shops are independently owned; Cossette Post is a unit of Cossette Communication of Quebec City. Cossette Post has handled the Amica business for the past four years.

The client spent $9 million on ads last year and $6 million through August, per TNS Media Intelligence/CMR. Amica has told review participants spending would likely top $15 million next year, sources said.

Amica’s buying chores will be handled by Havas’ Media Planning Group in New York, which teamed with Cronin for the assignment.

A client representative praised Cronin’s “creativity, enthusiasm and media plan,” and said the first work from the agency would likely debut in the next two months.

Recent Amica marketing efforts have used the themeline “We keep our promises to you,” and have included print and broadcast executions. The client offers home, life and auto insurance.
