Consumer Approach Of Martin Agency Sways Smart Online

The Martin Agency landed its second dot-com business this month, adding Smart Online’s $7 million advertising account. provides Web-hosted productivity applications to help start, manage and grow small businesses.
Client vice president of sales and marketing Steve Mitchem said he worked with Martin in the past, when he was with Whitehall Robins. He was also employed as a consultant for the Richmond, Va., agency.
Mitchem told Adweek he also discussed the business with FGI in the client’s hometown of Research Triangle Park, N.C., and Trone Advertising in High Point, N.C., “but [Martin] approached this not from a technology-based scenario, but a consumer-based scenario.”
