Cold Comfort

Los Angeles agency Kovel/Fuller may have found the cure for the common cold.
The shop has been awarded ad duties for Zicam (shown here), a homeopathic nasal gel that helps reduce the duration of the average cold from about two weeks to 36 hours, according to Hank Landau, president of Zicam parent company Gel Tech.
The agency bested several undisclosed Los Angeles-area shops for the estimated $5-10 million account, said sources.
Landau cited Kovel/Fuller’s “great creative” and its planning and packaged goods experience as reasons for the selection. The agency will handle the national launch of Zicam, which is already available in many grocery and drug stores.
“We wanted [a shop] that could put all the pieces together,” Landau said.
The first campaign for the Woodland Hills, Calif.-based client will air during the upcoming cold and flu season, October to April, and consist of nationwide TV, print and radio executions.
