Cohen Joins EMI in Senior Role

Judy Cohen plans to ex-pand on her experience with telecommunications and financial services clients in her new role as vice president, managing director of EMI Strategic Marketing.

Cohen comes to Boston-based EMI from crosstown agency Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, where as a senior vice president she worked with clients such as First Union, FleetBoston, Fidelity Investments and GTE Internetworking. Prior to joining Hill, Holliday, Cohen was senior vice president at Clarion Marketing/DMB&B, Stamford, Conn.

At 40-person EMI, Cohen will head a small team on all aspects of the marketing process—from drafting strategic plans to designing Web sites. “It’s a broader role than you typically play in a much larger shop,” Cohen said.

In her newly created EMI position, Cohen will oversee various direct marketing efforts, with work ongoing or anticipated for clients such as Grainger and BellSouth. She also plans to work on FleetBoston assignments already at EMI when her non-compete contract with Hill, Holliday expires later this year.

EMI has been adding seasoned talent of late; Mullen veteran Dan Nearing joined EMI a month ago as the shop’s creative director [Adweek, Feb. 19].
