LOS ANGELES International advertising and design competition CLIO has announced the executive chairs for its 50th anniversary CLIO Awards Festival, which will be held May 12-14 at the the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
A strategic communications/public relations category has been added to the awards to recognize work in the areas of consumer, corporate and crisis management. Richard Edelman, president and CEO of Edelman, New York, will be the executive chair for the public relations award category, which honors innovative and creative use of any form of unpaid publicity.
The six other executive chairs announced are Rob Reilly, partner/co-executive creative director at Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Boulder, Colo./Miami, (content and contact category), Stefan Sagmeister, president of Sagmeister Inc., New York, (design), Nick Law, CCO for North America, R/GA, New York, (interactive), Marcello Serpa, general creative director for AlmapBBDO, Sao Paulo, Brazil, (print/poster/innovative media/integrated campaign), Michelle Curran, president of Amber Music, London, (technique) and Mark Tutssel, CCO at Leo Burnett Worldwide, Chicago, (television/cinema/digital).
“Each has a profound understanding of this rapidly changing marketplace but is also a creative leader,” said Wayne Youkhana, director of the CLIO Awards, which are produced by Nielsen Business Media and part of the Nielsen Co. (as is Adweek). “You want your work judged by the best.”
Each year, the CLIO competition appoints approximately 115 creatives from 65 countries to seven juries.
