NEW YORK Circuit City has awarded the media planning portion of its U.S. advertising account to deutschMedia after a review, sources said.

The Interpublic Group shop bested Omnicom Group’s OMD and WPP Group’s Mediaedge:cia in the final round. All three pitched from their New York offices.

Estimated billings on the business are $150 million. (Newspapers are not included in the assignment.)

Last week, Raleigh, N.C., consultancy Hasan + Co., which managed the review, said independent Horizon Media, IPG’s Initiative, Aegis Group’s Vizeum and independent TargetCast, all in New York, had been cut from the process [Adweek Online, July 7].
