Chidester Moves to Wunderman as COO

NEW YORK Becky Chidester, CEO of WPP Group’s RTCRM, is shifting to the New York headquarters of sister shop Wunderman to become chief operating officer, a new post, the agency said.

Chidester, 47, has been chairman and CEO of RTCRM in Washington, D.C., since 1999. She will remain chairman until her successor is named. In the meantime, co-managing directors Jeff Ross and Barry Kessel will absorb day-to-day operational duties. Kessel also is chief client development officer.

RTCRM, which specializes in customer relationship management, was acquired by WPP in 1989 and became a division of the larger direct marketing agency Wunderman in 2002.

Previously, New York CFO Pat Przybyski handled Wunderman’s operational tasks. Przybyski’s financial role has expanded, however, due in part to the implementation of new federal rules for reporting revenue, according to the agency. As such, he could no longer manage both roles.

As COO, Chidester is charged with making sure that key clients such as AstraZeneca, Citibank, Microsoft and Chevron get the services they need.

“Becky’s genius for resource/business goal alignment is absolutely vital to build strong service models for the global clients,” said New York president and CEO Steve Zammarchi, to whom Chidester reports.
