Chevy Inks Bulls Guard for Dealer Ads

DETROIT General Motors’ Chevrolet division has signed a three-year deal with Chicago Bulls rookie guard Jay Williams to appear in Chicago and northwestern Indiana dealer advertising.

Williams, who was named 2002 Chevy College Player of the Year, will appear in television, radio and print ads and will participate in community outreach programs on behalf of Chevy. Campbell-Ewald’s retail division in Warren, Mich., handles creative.

One TV spot, already produced, shows Williams repeatedly dunking a basketball during practice. His last dunk is powerful enough to crash the backboard into the shape of a Chevrolet bow tie, the division’s logo. Joining Williams in the commercial are the zealous “Chevy guys,” who first appeared during Chevrolet’s 2002 Olympic advertising.
