CHICAGO Chemistri, the Publicis Groupe unit dedicated solely to General Motors, has hired Patrick Palmer as executive vice president, chief strategic and planning officer, a new post.

The new position merges Chemistri’s account planning and brand strategy groups under one leader. Mark Gjovik, who had led the brand strategy group, has moved to Los Angeles to head the agency’s new Import Strategy Center. Mike Bentley, who had led account planning, has left the agency.

Palmer, 38, comes from Euro RSCG Tatham Partners in Chicago, where he was chief startegic officer on accounts such as Walgreens, Red Lobster, Sara Lee and Wilson Sporting Goods.
