New-age beverage vendor Aqua Vie has continued its aggressive expansion with pushes into Florida and Japan. But a major broadcast ad campaign planned for October in markets including Chicago has been sidetracked by what the firm’s president terms a temporary financial hitch.
The Ketchum, Idaho, company, already is in litigation with two prior ad agencies over unpaid bills and now executes its own ads. But sources said its media buyer, Creative Media Inc./San Francisco, has refused to purchase more air time until outstanding bills are paid. Other vendors have privately voiced similar complaints.
Creative Media wouldn’t comment, but Aqua Vie president Tom Gillespie blamed the problem on an unspecified financial hitch that should be resolved this week. Then Aqua Vie proceeds with a heavy broadcast schedule in Chicago, Texas, Florida and northern California, some six weeks behind the initial timetable.
