Century Bank Returns to Connelly Partners

BOSTON Century Bank has returned its $1-2 million ad account to independent agency Connelly Partners here, the shop said.

The bank most recently worked with another independent agency, Benes Brand Imaging in Lexington, Mass. The account was shifted to Connelly without a review, based on the previous relationship between agency and client.

Connelly split with the 22-branch Somerville, Mass.-based bank in September 2002 following the agency’s merger with CGN. That union created a conflict between Century and CGN client Eastern Bank, which last year moved its business to Interpublic Group’s Mullen in Wenham, Mass.

“We’re focused on helping them grow to $2 billion in assets and beyond,” said agency president Steve Connelly of Century Bank’s return.

The agency is currently defending one of its showpiece accounts, the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism, in a state-mandated review. That business is worth $5-10 million in annual billings.
