CC and D Plays to Its Strengths

Shop Grabs Ipswich Bank, University Hotel
BOSTON–CC and D Communications has leveraged its financial services and hospitality experience, winning assignments from the First National Bank of Ipswich and the University Park Hotel at MIT.
Combined billings for the accounts are expected to exceed $1 million, said agency president Peter Kostopoulos.
CC and D was assigned advertising and public relations duties for the five-branch commercial bank in Ipswich, Mass., without a review. Work had been handled in-house.
The selection was driven by Don Gill, the bank’s chief executive officer. Gill had worked with the Boston shop when he was chief financial officer of the National Bank of Greece, another agency client.
CC and D is creating print and broadcast ads for Ipswich bank, said Kostopoulos. Breaking later this month, the campaign introduces the tagline, “Investing in relationships,” and will include branding and product executions, said Christine Marshall, the bank’s ad manager.
For the 200-room University Park Hotel, which is owned by Forest City Development and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass., the agency will fashion print and direct mail efforts.
CC and D’s billings have been flat in recent years, hovering around $20-25 million. However, the modest wins point the way to the future for the agency, which is trying to bill itself as an integrated marketing services provider specializing in the financial service and hospitality industries, Kostopoulos said. Its new clients fit that profile and provide a chance to create integrated campaigns, he said.
