Mary Carpenter, a longtime veteran of various Publicis agencies, has been named president of Starcom U.S.
Carpenter was most recently the chief strategy and operations executive working on General Motors within SMG, in which the operations of GM Planworks was folded. Before that, she headed planning for GM Planworks when it was a standalone entity within Starcom Mediavest Group.
Though details of Carpenter’s new role are still being worked out internally, she joins Chris Boothe, Steve Berger and Kathy Ring, who also have president stripes at Starcom.
It’s expected she will be integrally involved in strategy and products for the Publicis-owned agency.
