Carmichael Lynch Promotes Creative

CHICAGO Carmichael Lynch has named Jim Nelson executive creative director.

Nelson assumes day-to-day management of the agency’s 40-person creative department from chief creative officer Jack Supple. Supple will remain CCO and chairman of the agency, overseeing the shop’s overall creative vision.

Nelson, 39, who last year won the Kelly Award from the Magazine Publishers of America for the Minneapolis shop’s Harley-Davidson work, has been with the agency 12 years. He oversees several of the agency’s accounts, including Rapala, as one of six group creative directors.

Supple, 51, has been managing the department since May 1999, when then executive creative director Kerry Casey expressed a desire to scale back his activities with the agency. Casey subsequently left to join crosstown shop Periscope in October 2000.
