NEW YORK The Cannes International Advertising Festival has established an annual Lions Academy as part of its 50th anniversary celebration.

Twenty to 30 students ages 18-23 will be selected to attend a weeklong series of tutorials and seminars on advertising. This year’s tutor will be Clive Challis, head of the advertising course at Central Saint Martins in London.

A dean, nominated every three years, will oversee the academy. Michael Conrad, formerly worldwide chief creative officer of Leo Burnett, will serve as the first dean.
