Campbell Mithun, Musicland Part Ways

CHICAGO After only four months on the business, Campbell Mithun will no longer handle creative or media duties for retail chain Musicland Group, the agency confirmed.

According to a statement from the Minneapolis agency, the decision was made “based on a shift in Musicland’s internal marketing and advertising business.”

“While Campbell Mithun will no longer buy media nor manage production for The Musicland Group, we will maintain a relationship for long-term brand strategy development,” continued the statement.

CM, owned by the Interpublic Group, won the estimated $5-10 million account in November after a review that included Omnicom Group’s Martin/Williams in Minneapolis. The assignment included lead agency duties for the Minnetonka, Minn., company’s stores, inclduing its Sam Goody, Suncoast video and Media Play chains.
