Campbell-Ewald Adds Telecom’s I-Duties

CHICAGO Telecommunications company Alltel has awarded digital marketing initiatives to its lead advertising agency, Interpublic Group’s Campbell-Ewald, according to the shop.

The assignment involves maintaining the company’s multiple consumer Web sites, including an online store and a Spanish-language site. The Warren, Mich., shop will also handle online marketing, search engine optimization, and special digital and interactive products for the Little Rock, Ark., company.

“We’re totally focused on helping Alltel market its products and services in the best possible way,” said agency president and managing director Jeff Scott, in a statement. “With digital now a fundamental part of the communications mix, this new arrangement lets us plan better and respond more quickly to the client’s needs and the market’s demands.”

Campbell-Ewald won Alltel’s $100 million advertising account in November 2004. Last May, the shop launched an advertising campaign with the tagline, “What’s not to love?”

Billings for the digital assignment were not disclosed. Alltel spent nearly $90 million on traditional advertising through September of last year, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.
