Calif. Lottery Selects FCB

LOS ANGELES — The California State Lottery today named Foote, Cone & Belding in San Francisco as the successful bidder in the review for its five-year, $125 million advertising account, a lottery representative said.

Finalists also included the incumbent, Grey in Los Angeles, as well as crosstown shops DDB and McCann-Erickson.

The review was the second one conducted by the lottery this year. DDB had been named the successful bidder in a review that concluded in January. However, following protests by Grey, the account was put back into review.

FCB officials could not immediately be reached for comment. FCB pitched with Initiative Media North America, L.A., which will handle buying.
